Probably have been wondering if I'd update this. I've been wondering too...I even let the subscription run out on this...
I've been contemplating...whether or not this would be worthwhile. I wanted to host this tournament in hopes of bringing people together and having a good time. But...seems just as I feared, OC Tournaments have become a dime a dozen. The Colosseum brings nothing new and exciting to the table.
So you see my dilemma. And I'm still on the fence. People seemed really excited about this, but there are so many other tournaments, much better than this... I dunno...
I will keep you guys updated on any decisions... Sorry about this.

I'd definitely be willing to help out with this if you ever wanted me to. I really hope you decide to continue with it! I'd been looking forward to it for a long time.

The other OC tournaments you had linked in some journals didn't seem as interesting as this to me. I don't think I read about anything as interesting as a cage match, or randomly assigned playing field.
Anyhow, I hope you plan to go through with this. I was looking forward to having you as a host, since I like your art and your sense of humor in your OCB entries, Also, I've also already come up with characters and plot for this, and would be hard pressed to adapt it to someone elses tourney.

Hello, this is Auryn from the VD clinic. Speaking of being postive, your test results are back in. Stop sharing the love.
A lot of heavy hitters are looking your way, don't lose hope!
I've always wanted to enter one of these, but always felt like I'd be coming in so late in the game. Most of the tournaments I've seen are already established. Starting with one from the beginning seemed to be the only way to go, and this is the only one that really interested me.
Why this one? Well... The idea of doing a tournament with a deeper focus on character and stories, rather than "look how bad ass my d00d is as he kicks your d00d's ass into next week" action sequences really appeals to me. I'm all for the action sequences, too, but that's just icing on the cake. Reading over the journal entries on this tournament gave me the impression that I'd be joining with a group of like-minded individuals-- people who enjoyed writing and drawing stories with these priorities.
Maybe it's not new, or innovative, but darn it, it's YOUR tournament, and I think we could all have a stonkin' good time of it if you'll give it a chance.
So there's my input, such as it is. I'm all fired up to join as soon as you open applications.

Tournaments like these are a competition, they bring people together to smack off, it's been proven in the past that at first nobody knows nobody, everyone's "just there to do they're thing". But later off everything becomes a lot more challenging and a lot more friendly.
There's been quite a few OC battle offs, yes, but most of them differ from one to another with one important thing, the setting, where it's all going down. Just look at two of the ever popular tourneys:
Endzone what did it bring us, what did it have to give in the first place, why didn't people just "bleh" and "ugh" at it in the first place? Was it really just that Endling is so popular and thus more people would want to shine in one of his contests? It was a factor, yes, but would there have been just as much contestants and "wanabes" if the whole thing would have taken place in some fluffy, cuddly stereotype wonderland? Hell no, there would have been no real ways to expand a story, no awesome scenery, no nothing. Endzone had all that, the whole place, an asylum full of crazy kooks and then people arrive/get dragged there and just see what happens. The whole place gets turned upside down! Guys and gals created they're characters to fit there or just the opposite, they didn't belong there, what were they doing there?
They were making history, that's for sure. There was a story there even before it begun, End's Endzone's plus was that he had made Everafter, we had enough material to not have to think of a whole new place, imagine how he sees it. In short: it was a dam fun ride.
On Ronin's SDL, just look at it, Feudal Japan, a nearly vast place, you can imagine whatever you want, of course, if it was at that time in that place. That's where you start thinking: "Nothing magical, around 1500, what can I do so my character fits in? What do I do so it looks funner and a whole dam better than my opponents entry?" It's rather crazy there, it's all just 1 to 3 page duels atm. BUT, they fit in. Ronin created a "world" for people to get wild in. He set boundarys that are to be followed to get somewhere. Would it be as much fun if some over powered scientist from the future brawls off against a peasant? Hell no. He had a grand scheme right there. I'm quite confident that it's nowhere near its peak in popularity.
And that brings me back to you and The Colosseum. They set certain boundarys for people, you did too. They created an idea for people to build upon you did too. Don't believe me?
Match types:
You make it so much easier for them by telling them straight off where they're playground is or maybe harder because it means that they'll have to come up with an idea on how to win in that one place. Fun? You can bet on it. I don't know about others but I sure haven't seen any Cage, Hardcore or Chariot Race type of matches on dA.
You can give them the chance to expand they're own ideas with what's lying around the place. If that ain't a welfare ticket to a fun story then I don't know what is.
The whole time/city:
Modern day to close future in a Mob run Las Vegas, the glitz, the glamor, the possibilitys. You created one dam great story for people to leech upon, are they here to party, in for the kicks of it? Are they looking for a job as an underling of the Great Crime boss? Or are they just at the wrong place at the wrong time and need to fight or else they're done for it? Seriously, wouldn't you want to draw your lovely characters cracking they're heads in in a Colosseum with the floodlight on them? Just imagining it makes me shiver from excitement.
And other tournaments, forget them. Until now nothing offers anything that's at least a bit like The Colosseum!
Please do host The Colosseum, it would make me and a lot other people happy. ( +I've already started making scripts for the fights :< )
