CHARACTER GUIDELINES

1. Original characters only. As long as you created the character yourself, either before the tournament or for the tournament specificially. Just NO fan characters from any franchises or look-a-likes.

2. Competitors may enter characters as either Singles (one character) or Tag Teams (two characters, as a single entry). Singles and Teams may also have a 'manager' accompany them to the ring, but managers do not do any fighting (though may assist their fighters in victory). (Note: This means that single competitors may have to fight tag team competitors in a handicap match.)

3. This tournament is open to all kinds of competitors, and do not necessarily have to be heroic, physically strong, or violent in nature to participate. What makes these OC battles fun is all the different kinds of characters involved.

BATTLE GUIDELINES

1. Entries must depict a victory over your assigned opponent. This is generally achieved in comic format, but you can portray this in whatever you are most comfortable, which can be from a single picture to full blown animation. Go nuts. And since this is a wrestling inspired tournament, victories can be determined by pin fall (opponent is pinned to the ground for 3 seconds), submission (opponent gives up), or knock out (opponent is rendered unconscious). Don't let this limit you though. Combatants can be in special matches where there are other conditions for victory. Feel free to make your own.

1.b. Victories by Death - There are many alternatives to defeating an opponent other than by death. Please consider all other methods of victory, before this extreme. If it happens to be in the nature of the character to kill opponents, it will be permitted. Still we ask that you respect other participants' wishes if they do not want to see their character killed (even implied death). We ask that those who do not want their character to be killed to say so explicitly on the character reference sheet.

2. Tag Teams can either alternate during the match through tags, or fight together at the same time. It's your choice.

3. All weapons are fair game.

4. Matches must take place within the city limits of Silvermine. Matches are likely to start in the Colosseum ring, but matches can start and end anywhere within the city. Look under SETTINGS in "About the Colosseum" to get an idea of various locations in the city and arena. They could fight in a grocery store or in one of the themed hotel-casinos, if you wanted.

5. Referees are only present to determine the winner, since there are no disqualifications. They tend to stay out of the way, so you don't need to worry about depicting them until the end of your fight, if at all. There are can also be guest referees (referees that are someone else's character) if desired.

6. Battles can be as serious or as ridiculous as you want to make it.

7. Entries are expected to be turned before the deadline. If there are problems with turning it in before then, make sure that we are made aware, and we may be able to make an extension. Like if several participants are facing exams/etc., extensions/breaks may be in order.

MATCH TYPES

Cage Match
Characters are confined to a steel large cage in the center of the Colosseum, reducing the range in which the battle is fought initially, though some characters may be powerful enough to escape the cage.

Inferno Match
The fighting area is set a blaze, so characters are confined to a ring of fire.

Lion Pen
Lions and other dangerous animals are released during the match and pursue competitors.

Naval Battle
The arena of the Colosseum is filled with water with some floating platforms.

Chariot Race
Characters are given access to vehicles to use in the arena (anything from a bike, to a hummer, to a chariot). They may race or demolition derby, or whatever.

Backstage Brawl
Characters battle in the Hypogeum, that is the Colosseum underground, were there is access to areas such as a locker room, a boiler room, and offices.

Hardcore Match
Various weapons are scattered about the fighting area. From standard tables, ladders, and chairs, to sledgehammers, golf clubs, brooms, and megaphones to vehicles, guns, and laser cannons. Creative use of unconventional weapons is encouraged.

Handicap Match
Characters fight in wheelchairs... ... ... oh, no, wait! Characters lose some critical ability which hinders their normal fighting style (so, magical characters may lose some aspect of their magical abilities. Technology centric may characters lose some aspect of their technology. Weapon welders may lose their weapons. Hand to Hand Combatants have an injury. Etc etc. You can't handicap your character by taking away something that won't effect their style of fighting, but you don't necessarily have to completely disable them. The more creatively a character overcomes such a massive set back, the better. Each participant only needs to depict their character being handicapped in their entry, though may depict both characters if desired.

Street Fight Match
Characters begin outside of the Colosseum in the city of Silvermine at a set location, though they are not necessarily confined to the area. In these matches, the setting is critical. While full backgrounds are not expected, it needs to be established where the fight is taking place, and should have some impact on the fighting style.

City Locations: Fossil's Casino, The Silvermine Dam/Port Silvermine, Night Club and Bar, Area 00 Military Base, Silvermine Central Hub, Industrial Park and Train Yard, Gas Station Convenience Store, Rusty Canyon, the Silver Mine.

And also, could I get a background on the already established characters (non-fighters) and the story, especially the Silvermine mob? Like the T-Rex looking guy for example. I don't even know his name. Are all Silvermine mobsters dinosaurs?

I am unable to see the setting of the Silvermine city. And also, what do you mean "all weapons are fair game"? I'm sorry, maybe it's cause I'm from a different country.

Btw, is there a deadline?

(if this is only open to your friends disregard this comment) When you say comic style do you mean you want more than one scene or just the final scene of victory? or is it just up to the artist?..sorry, it's kind of a newbie question, but you have all those descriptions of the battle types and you said we could use an animated sequence, so I judged it prudent to ask..

If you read CAREFULLY. You'll see that there isn't a restriction on weapon users. They can use it if they have it.

dude, this sounds freaking awesome. ive never done one of these OC tournaments before, but im thinking my psychopathic nutcase of a character would love it. just a question though, i see the deadline for the auditions is may 30, but how long is this likely going to go? i can certainly be in for the long-haul, but im curious.
